Lit Circle with Partners Reflection

In humanities we made our third Lit Circle of the second book. In this occasion I'm reading "Maroo of the Winter Caves" and my partner was Alvin. I think that we both did a good job.

Some benefits of working with a classmate was that our partner can make us feedback and he\she can help us with with our questions, passages and connections. He\she can also tell us what make sense and what not. and off course with spelling mistakes.

Some challenges were that sometimes your partner doesn't make his\her work in time or that he\she sometimes take some of your ideas. Sometimes your partner thinks that your question is level one or maybe it doesn't make sense and you don't think the same as her\him.

New understandings that I've got of the book is that Maroo is gaining courage and knowledge about how life is about. How i said in my connection, in chapter 8 I felt so sad because Maroo' s father died. I really liked working with a partner and I hope we can work like that again.

Literature Circle Reflection

During the literature circles discussion, we share our thoughts and opinions about literature circles of others. That help us understand our mistakes and correct them for the next literature circle. When we were reading some literature circles then the owner of  the lit circle finds some mistakes and some parts that does not make sense. During a person is reading her/his passage we all first read the page and then we listen to her/his passage so that if we want to say something we have how to prove it, with the book.
Here is one connection that i had with the story...

  • I really enjoyed reading chapter 4 because its talks about Rivo and he reminds me about Murdock. Murdock was my dog, he was Shakira´s son (Shakira was a she-dog that we had in our farm) When Shakira´s son was born I wanted to take him home because he was so cute, after a long period of time of asking my dad he finally said ¨yes¨, Then we took him home. I wanted to name him but I didn´t know how to call him. Then my dad showed up and said ¨you should call him Murdock¨ ,I disagreed but I asked why ¨because Murdock is the name of the mad man in the A- Team, which was an old movie that I saw when I was a kid¨ he answered. Murdock was so cute, at the beginning he was sky and afraid but after two or more weeks he peed on the carpet and he bit everything. I think this is like when Rivo developed confidence and he starts being more friendly and not shy and scared.
One question i have is How will Maroo and her family survive without her father?
I hope that while im reading the next chapters I can answer the question by my self.

Thank you

Maria!

Symmetry in KL

I decided to take a picture of my Ipod because it has one line of symmetry down the middle. The line of symmetry passes through the middle of the button of the Ipod.

Mangrove trees! (What a funny story)

It was Friday morning, about 6:55 AM, we were sleeping like babies (because last night we slept at 2 AM) and then Sarah opened the door and said ¨ Guys, wake up, we are living in 5 minutes¨ we were like why?!, we wanted to sleep more! but we knew that we had to go, so we changed our clothes, well not me because i forgot my pajamas, so i had to sleep wearing my clothes and had to wear the same clothes for the Mangroves. Then we brushed our hair and we went to take breakfast. It was noddles, (we didn't like it) After breakfast we had some free time, we packed and talked a bit. After 30 minutes we went to take our boots and we filled our bottles with water and we started to walk.

During the way we were annoying Pasha and Alvin, we sang our favorites songs and we had a lot of fun (especially when we were annoying them). After 4 kilometers we threw our hats and our water bottles on the floor and we put our boots on and we ran to the mangrove trees. At the beginning it seemed easy but when we started walking on the mud we changed our minds, it was really hard!. The first time that i fell i laughed with Megan, then she got stock in the mud  and we laughed together, but when i felt again, it wasn't funny anymore , but Megan still laughed at me!. I was so muddy, i started touching Andrea´s back because i wanted her to get muddy too. Even if we were all muddy and tired Megan and me started to sing. Everybody was like STOP! and then we laughed.

We were a bit crazy, but it was normal. Then Mrs. Reiser said that we had to get out of the mud, everybody got out. CY, Micah, Andrea and me where the last ones, we couldn't ´t get out, but finally we managed. Andrea lost her socks, and my socks were not socks, they were just a brown thing. The last ones in the line where Andrea, Pasha, Ashika and me. i was walking without shoes and my feet hurted. Finally we arrived to the hostel, and we had to wait a long time until we took a shower, we had to take a shower in the bathroom, but it was gross, it had ants and worms and it was all dirty, but we had to take a shower anyway. It felt so nice after the shower, we were all clean and we were wearing new clothes. After the shower we ate lunch and we took the bus back to ISKL.

Showing Courage ...

It started four years ago when I went to a very small town in Colombia called Melgar. My grandparents, parents and I went to visit my aunts ex, ex boyfriend's, Andres, family. When we arrived we ate lunch, talked and played cards. It was almost 6:00 pm and my grandfather asked me to go for a ride on  Andres' motorcycle.  I said yes... but I didn't knew what was going to happen...

All was going OK !, until it started to get darker and darker. I said " Grandpa  we should go back", He answered "yes, you are right"... It was alone and quiet, I though that we were lost, and then suddenly we realized that we were on a mountain ! My grandfather said "we can call your father" !, but when we look at the cellphone it was uncharged, and the gas of the motorcycle was all most empty. We waited ... and waited.

I was so scared but I knew that we had to find a way to go back to the house. I though "we should walk" so we started walking... there were no cars, no motorcycles and no people... until we saw a red car, my grandfather said "there is your father". I didn´t believe, until I saw my father going out of the car , I was so happy. then we went to the house and my mother said "I was so worried about you" I answered "ok, mom" and then we ate dinner and we went to bed. Since that I decided not to go too far from home , and to always take with me a charged cellphone !

Hope you like it !

What do the artifacts tell us about the lives of early humans?

The artifacts that the early human drew were clues that were trying to tell us how they use to live in those times. we tried to guess what the artifacts that the early humans made meant and we came up with very many interesting hypothesis.

our guesses were about the pictures that Ms. Reiser gave us and for example that some of them drew pictures of very many animals and that provably meant that the artist is trying to show the  world around him or she. they drew some bulls, horses and many other animals.in some of the paintings there are hand prints which provably mean that the artist is signing the picture.
maybe they drew in places is because they had special ceremonies in that place.

Thank U !

I would like to be an Geographer because Geographers make maps , they study the Earth's physical environment and human habitat . Geographers study not only the physical details of the environment but also its effects on human and wildlife ecologies, weather and climate patterns, economics, and culture. That's why i want to be a Geographer.

Bye !!
